Hi everybody,
Just dropping by to wish you a very HAPPY EASTER.
We hope that this Easter is a special one for you. Easter holidays
are usually a time to catch up with family members and friends.
Easter can also be a weight watchers nightmare.
Out come the CHOCOLATES by the dozen and the HOT CROSS BUNS.
If you are a lover of chocolate and at the same time on a plan to
reduce your weight, then Easter could end up passing you by without
losing any weight.
On the other hand, you could find yourself gaining weight.
Well, we don’t want that and we don’t want you feeling guilty after
Easter.
Here are a couple of SUGGESTIONS.
1. KNOW YOUR LIMITS
While eating hot cross buns and chocolates are yummy, know the
calories so that you understand the effect of eating too much.
One Plain Hot Cross bun is equivalent to 230 CALORIES.
Now if you are a woman about 5’2″ or 160 cm in height and about 60
kgs in weight, your suggested calorie counter for losing weight
would be approximately 1200 calories for the day.
As you can see, one hot cross bun is a high portion of your daily
allowance.
As a comparison, we have a Herbalife SHAKE each morning for
breakfast and the calorie content is approximately 230.
In reality, when you wake up each day over Easter and start with
eating a hot cross bun, you are going to find a desire to eat more
than one.
Breads and buns are easy to eat more of because the protein content
is not there and we tend to eat a lot of it before we feel satisfied.
As a suggestion, if you are going to eat a hot cross bun, have a
LOW CALORIE HIGH PROTEIN breakfast first (similar to our shake
breakfast) and then have a bun. At this point, your appetite will
be under control.
So, use restraint and have nutritious meals FIRST.
2. BE WARY OF THE EASTER BUNNY.
Did you know that the marching Easter bunny chocolate (18cm) from
Darrel Lea is 425 CALORIES and one small choc egg is 160 calories?
As a suggestion, don’t eat your chocolate egg in one sitting. Put
it in the fridge and only eat some of it as a reward for having
your nutritious meal first.
Remember, having control of your weight is about controlling what
goes in our mouth, how often and what.
So, having said all this, enjoy your Easter and if you are a lover
of chocolates and hot cross buns like me, join me in deciding not
to have that bun until I have eaten a NUTRITIOUS MEAL.
And remember to savour (and saver) your chocolate bunny over a few
days and only have some of it as a reward for eating healthy in the
first place.
So, happy Easter and many blessings.
Best wishes for safe and meaningful Easter.
